Autumn in Full Flow

Perthshire can be one of the nicest areas in Scotland, particularly if you enjoy a woodland walk. The experience is at its peak during autumn, when for a few short weeks the colour bursts into life before the first frost.

Lightning is something I’d wanted to capture from an early stage in my photography career. I had the image above in my head for quite some time but unfortunately Scotland doesn’t have many lightning storms and when it does, they seldom produce huge forks worthy of a photograph.

Fortunately patience prevailed and in August 2020 I would capture the image that would later become my first major award winning photograph.

As well as being one of my personal favourite photographs, I’ve been fortunate to have it displayed in galleries and has been a fan favourite becoming my most requested photograph as a print.
